Newspaper Craft Project for Year 5 KSSR Short Story

Newspaper is indeed a powerful tool for language art skill. I let my Year 5 pupils exercised their imagination in craftwork production yesterday; it was very successful, even the naughtiest boys were engrossed.

It can be a fun post activity for “Something Weird Happened” short story, but make sure the pupils understand the theme of imagination that broadly covers the story.

Suggestion: Instead of asking them to create free theme craftwork products, asks them to create something that can be found in the story such as ice-cream, book, or just let the pupils decorate themselves as a famous celebrity using the newspaper. I'm positive that they will be thrilled to do it.

Easy DIY Bunny Headband for ESL Craft Project

I made my pupils bunny headbands for their marching competition last Thursday. It was really cute and very easy to make!

For this DIY, you will need manila cards, some A4 papers, scissor, glue, and headbands.

STEPS

1.   Make an ear pattern on the manila cards and cut it.
2.  Staple the ‘ears’ to the headbands. You can DIY the headband from Garden Wire or buy the ready-made ones at your local store.
3.  Cut another pieces of inner ear from the A4 paper. Glued it to the ‘outer ear’. Make sure you cover the staples.

There you have it! This can be a fun ESL craft project for lower primary pupils! :D
